I admitted I am a cafe person, in love with cafe hopping and brunch culture and always tempting to visit different cafes.

I enjoyed doing that a lot, and would not imagine if I couldnt do that one day.

These days I was having bad mood, the day was gloomy just like the weather, I had been thinking if I really like R&D....

I love new product, new variety for sure, but do i enjoy doing it? I doubted.

I couldnt deny I dislike R&D because I used to love my job in Macfood, it was interesting when I saw the end product releasing.

Perhaps looking premix now, semi finished good for me, is really boring, and the trouble shooting annoyed me a lot

I sort of discovered my interest is more on application site, somehow like a chef, but not entirely,.

Hence, after yesterday review and today's meeting, without hesistation, I texted Mr. Tan, the kind man who interviewed me early this year for a job at QL.

I declined his offer earlier this year because of my ex-boss, Karen. Mainly because I really enjoyed working with Karen. 

However, Karen had moved her path 1 month later after my decision, and I regreted to turn down his offer especially found out the role is for the new joined Japanese chain convenient store - Family Mart.

Mr. Tan was kind enough to anwser my enquiries and I just sent my resume a while ago and hopefully he would still find me the same. 

 

Went to uptown with Wai Ee this evening for some cafe food like how I always love to do.

Glad to know Wai Ee shared the same interest as me, the dinner option at Bacon and Brew was great.

There were not many food options on the menu, but I managed to order a good dish

 

Western style of okonomiyaki, very creative, the texture is more like pancake rather the ordinary okonomiyaki with cabbage filling.

I find the texture was slightly soft and starchy, but the taste was not too bad.

The incorporation of half boiled sunny side up egg in the middle layer of the pancake was good.

I also enjoyed the side - pan fried bacon, really well done.

We chat a lot tonight, wai ee talked about the stories in Macfood which I really found familiar. 

Well for someone who been through all these shit, nothing to be surprised of. 

I shared my struggling condition at the moment and hope i could find my way soon.

Got sweet toast for dessert at Miru cafe, the place was really crowded especially given it was Friday night.

I think their toast was just so so, dont think i will visit the cafe again.

However, it was a good night tho.

finally got to do some cafe hopping at Puchong area, here actually have many good cafes and eateries. 

We gone to Walnut cafe and bar for dinner, this place was really have a cozy ambience, lots of foreigners over here.

I must recommend their signature lemon grass drink which served in a mini barrel!

This barrel is so cute and actually it could serve up to many small glasses! I think we got refilled more than 3 times for each person.

The drink also taste good =) 

I had their signature seafood ariabiata spagetti, it was slightly spicy, but the seafood variety was amazing.

A big scallop, 2 mussels and 2 medium sized prawn. Portion size also good enough. Taste was not too bad. 

Huey Yee ordered a soft shell crab risotto, I think is hard to find a good risotto in Malaysia. So far I havent eaten any good one.

After the savory dinner, we went for dessert hunting. 

The dessert was the main thing I wanna come to Puchong, Ken had told me about this good waffle at Ground Eatery cafe. 

This cafe is located just beside Walnut cafe and bar, and luckily there werent too many people tonight which was quite odd to find because it always full house.

We ordered the Flossy Berries HK Egglett waffle, look at the presentation, no one could resist!

It come with a white chocolate lavender artisan ice cream, chicken floss (wow!) and corn flake, with the option to pour with a mini jug of berries compote.

Honestly, i think the combination actually did not matched very well, and the egglett was not crispy, but i love the lavender ice cream, it was really good made!

Maybe would come next time for the other flavor of egglett.

My rossy milk also very interesting, quite good to drink.

There were also many celebrations for me this year, but not as many as last year.

Another celebration this year with the girls only group at Iggo, Setia Alam.

This year except Bean and HuiB couldnt make it, everyone turned up.

Apparently the cafe was famous with their various kinds of risotto, I got the Shredded lamb shank risotto, it was not too bad.

Chat a lot tonight, suddenly a unexpected guest turned up, the one who always flying around the world. 

Hence, the birthday celebration meant for 1 become 3....because we celebrated mine, Kok Chin's, which falling on 1st Sep, and Yumi's whose birthday on 5th.

Siew Teng bought a cake from somewhere a famous bakery, it was a poppy seed flourless cake.

Another celebration today, with beloved family and my besties~

Dad was asking what food I want for my birthday, since is on my said, I picked KOREAN~ hehe, because it had been a while since my last korean meal.

Bro suggested Sannaedeul at Setia Walk because it has promotion and we can have unlimited Korean BBQ and steamboat! Yum!

Look at this, ohhh so nice! 

I had so much refill this afternoon, cant stop eating the bbq pork, everything were so delicious!

The Korean BBQ was not my only feast today, I also had a good night with my besties - Scheen, Bean and Kok Chin.

We went to Setia Alam to hunt for good food, ended up gone into this modern cafe.

Though the cafe has a very attractive appearance and ambience, the food was meh.

Cheen ordered a bowl of fruit salad, it was good presentation but I guess it was just a normal fruit bowl.

The cafe owner indeed has a sweet mouth, she convinced me to try their famous melon shaved ice, but it was overpriced and not that wow.

I ordered the grilled chicken which was apparently the best at the cafe and always running out, but honestly it was just normal grilled chicken.

Eventually I only found out the cafe owner was the same owner of the Lucky Ten restaurant at Bandar Baru Klang.

This mean they are the same food but just refurbished and transformed modernly, with an increase of price.

What's the point? Sigh, everything seems upgraded when it gone to Setia Alam, come on, this place is just the boundary between Klang and Shah Alam.

Coming here dint make means you are one step better or higher, it was still the same meal anyway.....

Despite of the dissapointing meal, we gone to another well known ice cream cafe - Inside Scoop.

The famous ice cream shop finally open their franchise in Setia Alam.

We got ourselves the waffle + ice cream combo.

We picked 4 types of flavored ice cream - cempedak, uji tea, black sesame and caramel.

We got 1 charcoal waffle and 1 normal waffle. The cempedak ice cream is delicious, I directly picked it once try it out, because the fragance and taste is just like cempedak melted in your mouth!

Bean and Cheen was surprised with my choice, but then the cashier said Cempedak was the top seller. SEE! I definitely have great taste ok!? lol

 Have a very good night, we chat a lot. This may be the last reunion for us because Cheen will be heading to the cruise for 3 months plus. Good luck for her!

i actually having half day today, thanks to the messy clearance of the R&D pallets on Sat~

I was wandering around pyramid after lunch with Naomi, Wai Ee and Derrick at Yoshinoya.

Bought some gifts for the department, basically everyone include the intern will get one except Eying, this show how fair I am lol 

Ilao Ilao is getting famous these days, i heard from Ken that its frozen yoghurt is very good so decided to give it a try~

I accidentally topped up a blueberry topping and this small bowl costed me nearly RM15! 

To be honest, to those who never try frozen yoghurt or yoghurt in NZ or Aussie, I dont judge u, but they are just so so...

it is a frozen version of NZ yoghurt to me and not deserved such a high price because it is not that pricy come on! 

I am sorry for your ambition to creating a yogurt culture, but this mark the last time i ate you, and definitely no insta or fb for this. 

 

Have celebration for bpeng's birthday tonight at Sherpherdoo, where the girls only group love to go.

No special meal nor special cake tonight, cake are just roughly get from secret recipe, poor girl.

But i guess she doesnt mind? 

Well, my new job was also revealed tonight ==, lots of attention indeed.

So this is the real goodbye, Brandon, my previous 20 year old intern is departing back to the state this weekend continueing his final 2 yrs study.

Then, his ideal plan is to get a job and settle down in the state and not sure when will be the next time seeing Malaysia.

It is quite sad to be apart, but i really think it is a better choice.

Seeing the situation in Malaysia now, leaving the country somehow is a better option especially he still very young. 

The secret lunch society is meeting up for dinner + dessert catch up tonight at Empire Subang shopping mall.

Brandon chose Ding Tai Fung for dinner and guess what?! Derrick was treating us!!

Finally, he only decided to make a treatment upon Brandon and my farewell ==

Actually this is also my first time having meal at Ding Tai Fung.

The food actually not really very nice, but the price really shocked me! 

Thank god someone paid the bill =) 

 

The meal definitely not enough for us, we went to Jibby & Co for the yummy cakes.

Tiramisu was my first attempt too after trying out their cakes for 2 times, very nutty on the top and creamy in the middle.

However, if you seeking for the real tiramisu with the real coco and bitter rum, too bad it is a halal restaurant and the tiramisu is neither contains rum nor made up of mascarpone.

It was also very sweet, is best for sharing.

Meteor is another cake i would order and order again everytime when i come to Jibby.

It never fail me, but of cause for people who not having a sweet tooth, you might wanna choose other options. 

Last, wish Brandon all the best in the state, you would be missed!

Yea, to the boys who turned 23 yesterday and the day before, congratz on growing up another year ==

I asked Kong to join the celebration as his birthday is just 1 day after Derrick's and glad to find out he just enrolled for honours with scholarship awarded!

Really a double celebration today~

Today also marked an important gathering for peeps from Macfood, because Karen, Pek Shan and CY who had left Macfood were joining us (Derrick, Kong, Ginseng, Jacklyn and me) for the dinner tonight.

I picked Naughty Nuri for the venue because I always wanna try out this as my cousin told me how good it was, and we have enough people to share the pricy cost tonight.

Naughty Nuri's 1995 Signature BBQ spare ribs is the signature meal must be tried out over here, but RM45 per slab is really a ripped off. 

To me, I think the sauce matched well with the ribs, but not really wow, because the portion is not really huge and shared by so many of us was really a dissastifaction.

If you had tried out the Hurricane's Express from Australia, you would think Naughty Nuri is making fool of the consumers.

Pek Shan topped up this stew: Balinese Spiced Sop Buntut: if directly translate means Bali style spiced ass soup =O

Ok, it was actually seared oxtail and braised in Bali spices for hours, the soup was actually quite yummy, but come on, please give us more garlic bread!

Last, we also ordered the special limited dish, the manager actually rang me for recommendation.

She said someone preordered this but cancelled in last minute and asked if I want to have it, since it was so special and signature, I said yes.

It is named "babi Guling", with half a piglet, priced at RM150!!! This piglet is so small, and I think I only got to eat 2 pieces? 

Ok, it was nice, but i am sorry, I dont really see the reason to pay pork for more than RM100.

I dont think it is a special rare species of pig, though it is piglet which made it more precious? However, it was just fried until every crispy, after all, nothing really special about it.

 

Food wasnt impress me afterall, maybe I was hard to please with, but the crews definitely deserved award for entertainment and service!

They kept entertaining each table especially those who come for birthday celebration, and there were so many people ceberating birthday tonight! 

The birthday song kept playing, and the crew kept dancing, and it was so loud, I felt I was in a club, oh, Thai club to be specific =)

Of cause the crew wouldnt miss us, who have 2 birthday boy at the table.

Alright, we had lots of fun tonight, chat so much because we dint see each other for such a long time. 

Glad that everyone is doing well at their new career now, though i really dislike someone who really thought she was doing so well and ignoring me =(

Is ok, not to mention about her in this post cause I dont want ruin such a happy post.

Happy birthday Kong and Derrick, grow well and stay happy =)

It is a lazy Sunday, as usual, I slept until the sun hang in the middle of the sky, Dad woke me up and nagged me about the time while I still blurred on my bed.

I was lost and asked why went out so early (although it was already 12pm...==), and why are we going to fancy place for lunch (dad picked nice restaurant to have meal, and elder brother also joining us).

Then dad was kinda pissed: Because today's my birthday!!!

Oooops, sooo sorry, i somehow have no idea why I forgot about dad's big day, I actually remember few days ago~

Lunch was alright, we went for dad's favourite chinese cuisine at a restaurant in neighbourhood. 

My brother suddenly suggested to have different type of meal for my dad celebration at night.

When he meant different, maybe just unique to dad, but to me, I had it 2 mths ago for Karen's farewell.

 

Yes, we went to Bubba Gump for dad's birthday celebration tonight.

We ordered a few different dishes to be shared with, mainly just want dad to try out different seafood choices in so called worthy price.

Look at my niece, Loey, she enjoyed the lemonade soooo much!

Dad enjoyed the night I guess, but perhaps not the meal.

He still think chinese cuisine is still the best == (stuborn!) and the price actually dont really cheap. 

Well, it is seafood, and somehow all foreign cuisine will be pricy in Malaysia.

It's the month of Gemini birthday again, this year celebration is rather late because everyone was quite busy?

Oh not sure, but we also got to catch up today.

We come to this new cafe opened at Botanic, called Brew factory. The cafe is quite nice and have very decent and cozy interior.

This is rather fresh to have such place in Klang area, nice to find out =D

Their menu is quite interesting too, besides the normal cafe style breakfast menu, they also have various creative savoury and sweet waffles options. 

I had tea, forgot what i had ordered, but remembered the fancy glass pot, because ended up they running out of the tea pot since most of us have tea, and they replaced the pot with simply cup of tea ==

For food, i dint miss out their savoury waffle, I ordered Spanish Baked Egg waffle, topped with sausage, bacon and POACHED EGG! Excuse me!?

Your menu written baked egg isnt it? This is cheating XD. Well, I dint care, because though the little dissapointment on the overcooked poached egg, I like how they made the waffle so crispy after topped up with caramellized sauce.

We also have dessert, the sweet waffles were just alright, couldnt beat the waffle at Coffee Origin, where just located behind Brew Factory =P.

But, the main thing is about the gathering, and the birthday for the big group. Happy Belated birthday~

Now, is vol 4~ in 1 month, I have eaten tons of nice food lol. 

This was breakfast on a training at ALS, Pek Shan and I was picked to attend this training simply because all the QA exec were busy for audit.

The training was about allergen, well is just general knowledge, nothing to fuss about.

I was here with Cheryl on a working Saturday, I forgot the reason for me to come to work ==

But it was also May catch up with Cheryl =D

Food at Morning Wood was alright, I had their breakfast in bed (big breakkie), it is just general big breakfast, nothing special about it. 

However, Cheryl's main (somthing with pork) was rather unfresh and she concluded that she would not visit the place again regardless the owners were a group of celebrities~

To me, meh...I am not interested either as there are plenty of cafes around, and they keep blooming~

 

Next, a fancy lunch with Derrick and Wai Ee at Tulips cafe by that latte place, at Pyramid.

I discovered there are more and more nice place to eat at Pyramid...

The owner also had another 2 cafes: That latte place and Maps (Maps actually also located very closed to me, at bandar Sunway).

One thing i like about Tulip's is they have pork menu! Yeah, sorry no halal for me =P

I ordered "Country Hash", pan fried hash with homemade minced pork patty, onion, capsicum, mozarella cheese, topped up with sunny side up egg, homemade toast and fresh green.

The meal is quite special as in you might not able to find in other cafes, but not really wow. I actually not like how mincy was the patty and it was quite salty. 

They should consider provide more toast and add some sauce cause it was quite dry. The fresh green is also really little....but overall I think I may visit again for their other porky meal.

 

Our food hunting of cause covers the menu which customers would like us to develop, for example, the fish porridge from Kluang station.

Customer said the fish strips still remains crispy after half day.....bullshit...

It was just simple fried fish which prepared from instant battered fried fish, to be used for fast food....hmmm.

Well, the project was expected to be assigned to me as well, so we would see.

 

Now, some dessert time~

Have this huge portion of taiwanese dessert at Snow Flakes with Pek Shan, Wai Ee and Soo Li after work.

I still remember we were gossiping, at the same time, sharing conversation which might not suitable for the other 2 new comers =P

 

Then, another dinner with Wai Ee, Derrick and Brendon at Hungry Hog, another porky cafe at ss15.

I have "Huevos Rancheros", a tortilla with sunny side up eggs, pulled pork, thin sliced avocado and salsa.

The combination was good, portion was huge too, but can I have more tortilla please?

Hungry Hog actually is really pork based cafe, almost all menu contains pork, maybe can come back to explore again =D

 

Last, the fancy lunch at Franco, after an exhausted "production" at UPM. 

It was just a small trial using their small scaled slicer, blender, chopper, we spent half day here.

Lunch was all paid by the company =P, so I had peanut butter and banana milkshake, and seafood tomato cream spagetti.

The milkshake was awesome! Sure very fatty and evil, but really really good~

Spagetti also have many wholesome combination of seafood, from scallops, mussels, shrimps, clams to squid. Taste was ok, but quite big portion.

Wai Ee also ordered the famous french toast, this was also my first time trying out their french toast.

It was really good!!! The french toast was crispy warm at the outside, and soft inside, eat together with the vanilla ice cream was really great =)

Luckily it was for sharing, otherwise I would feel so guilty about it =S.

Ok, volume 3 covered mainly is these recent 2 months, but I guess more will be coming up with my newly joined colleague because she is a foodie too =D

First, start off with the 2 massive pizzas at Papa John, this was also my first visit at this American pizza shop.

Derrick and I were too ambitious to order 2 huge pizzas and he thought we would able to finish them ==

I was so guilty, because we did finish them.....slowly and unwillingly =S 

To me, their pizza were not very impressive, I probably wouldnt eat them if there is no promotion. 

 

Next, is the Hungry brunch we used to visit. I had what Karen ordered last time, perhaps is the one that I think is more worthy.

The toast is just ordinary white toast, the salad just normal coleslaw, the egg just normal sunny side up egg that similar in McD's, none of them were special except the big portion with the reasonable price.

 

I got my personal delivery during work! Lol, thanks to Derrick, he always not dare to against my order (I am such a bad senior =P)

Just asked him to bring me a cup of Angry bird version sundae, actually it was just topping up M&M but price increased up to nearly RM6! Crazy~

 

Then, today we had to go to the store again for roadshow. Hence we had fancy lunch at Pickle & Fig~

But i really like tea from Gryphon Tea company, just found out it is a Singaporean company =O 

We were ambitious today too, just because Ken told us there is a famous bakery shop nearby - Dotty's 

The salted egg trend is still bursting, so we definitely dont want miss the chance have the salted egg cronut!

Honestly, I am not salted egg fan, I dont even wanna eat the salted egg in the moon cake. 

To me,it is too oily and greasy....this cronut is not crispy enough and most importantly, it is cold! 

Regardless how popular it is, this is very unprofessional to serve cold food to customer. 

 

I would prefer to have another croissant from Dotty's next time, at least it is very crispy and not too oily.

Alright, rather writing 2 post, lazy me would like to combine 2 in 1 of my after work cafe hunting this week.

First throwback is the dinner I had in 3 days ago with Huey Yee, yeah we meet up again.

This time, she came to Macfood to pick me up, also is a good chance for her to see how's my working place look like.

Then, we gone to SS15 for cafe hunting, I couldnt believe the traffic in Tuesday night also was so crowded. 

Last, we managed to park the car at the least popular street and hopped to Graffa cafe, a cafe managed by Malays, their menu is more like a fushion of western and local Malays main dishes.

I ordered a Pamersan chicken, which was actually quite awful. The tomato gravy was too thick and sweet, and the chicken was rather dry.

Their side salad or mash potato was not magnificient either, really bad choice to pick this cafe. 

What a dinner chance I had wasted, there are so many plenty of choices in SS15 but i just simply chose the worst.

Ok, sincerely sorry for Huey Yee though she felt her pasta was ok, but I would not recommend this cafe for anyone.

At least dessert was good, I went back to Aboong again, which really embrassive desicion cause I told Karen that I wouldnt back here.

Well, I did and simply because Huey Yee would like to try out and frankly speaking, their frozen yoghurt is good.

Luckily Huey Yee picked this, because I also found out that they have new flavor!!!

Last time, they only had 1 flavor, but this time they offered this special cheesy velvet LTO menu, which have red velvet taiyaki with milky cheese ice cream.

I opt out for the cheesy ice cream as frozen yoghurt worth more for the price, but I still prefer the original menu cause the filling is custard, I am sorry but I am not custard lover.

We dint chat much tonight mainly because we were busy surfing the best destination in Japan, LoL.

Yeah, we had finally bought the tickets, it was not cheap as we picked the Haji period as Huey Yee did not have much leave left.

But, I am ok with it, as I really looking forward for Japan all time and I dont mind spending a little more just to travel with Huey Yee.

 

Next, back to the dinner I had tonight with Karen.

It was a stressful day (as usual), and really feel like "throwing" all the hardship feeling towards Karen. ==

Just because she would fit into my shoes completely and understand how does all these shit from work felt like.

We finally gone to the newly opened cafe, where is very very close to us - Whup Whup.

I have no idea what's the name mean, but definitely enjoy the cozy and unique environment.

The cafe is reconstructed from a closed factory and well used the interior design of the factory to transform into a unique ambient.

Food options are not bad too, we shared 2 plates of main and dessert tonight.

I chose Duck 3 ways fettucine, the duck meat is a bit hard, but overall this dish was nice.

Karen picked Mohawk salmon with pineapple salsa, actually not too bad. The salmon steak is thick enough, slightly overcooked, but not too bad.

Unfortunately there are not much slices can be chose from the cabinet, but in the end we picked 2 cakes.

These 2 cakes were just alright, but I had long chat with Karen tonight and relieved all my anger and pressure. 

Really grateful that I still have Karen as a fren after she left the company. 

Hopefully this friendship continued =)

Finally that day has come.

I have been denying the departure of Karen "mentally", though I really understand it is a fact and Karen would be always my boss just like Sergey and Aaron.

However, I am still happy and proud with what she has chosen, I believe she has a brighter future after leaving Macfood.

Today is her last day, and I also completed her sketch book after the short period of preparation time.

I could tell she is really touched when she received the gift today

The last photo in R&D for Karen, of cause still Derrick's wefie~ too bad ching yee was in penang today, pek shan was in malacaa, faeezah had sick leave, Zura is also on leave.....

I also had opened the chocolate blanc et langue de chat Huey yee gifted me, to be shared during this special day.

This chocolate sandwich snack is really premium, 12 prepack in the box, precisely and premiumly packed.

 

After the farewell in office, I proposed to have dinner together, of cause without the boss and the assistants.

We went to Thyme Out, a new mexican cafe newly opened in Bandar Sunway area.

This cafe do not have wifi, i like its concept - NO WIFI, TALK TO EACH OTHER =)

I have the fish tacos, but seriously very bad....I guess it is very hard to find good mexican food in Malaysia.

The meal of cause is not satisfying, we chose Softcore for the dessert place, this cafe specially sell the molten lava cake.

This cafe is still very popular, luckily there is still one available desk. 

We ordered 2 desserts to be shared: matcha molten lava cake and dark chocolate molten lava cake.

The matcha version contains green tea, white chocolate lava cake, with candied calamasi, homemade vanilla ice cream served with red bean paste and sesame tuille.

Look at the green tea sauce after cut off the lava cake, omg, this is so tempting! 

The cake is very soft and very nice, I really like it.

 

For the chocolate version, the lava cake is made by 70% Belgium dark chocolate, matched with homemade vanilla ice cream, cherry jam, mixed berries and sand crumble.

I believe all these insta photos will be rarely taken in future days as Karen is not around in Macfood.

Only her will have these kind of "toy", but for sure we would definitely meet again =)

I supposed met Cheryl in March, but she was busy with her boy fren. 

Yeah, she got one...sigh beauty is always easy to find her lover aye.

Today we meet here - Yellow Brick Road~

It is located at Damansara Height, and I actually wazed to get there. 

Apparently this cafe is quite famous and Cheryl had waited 20 mins patiently for a table.

Thanks to Cheryl, I could directly ordered my brunch upon arrival.

Looking at the long crowd at the door, I am so grateful =D

 

I started with rose and lemon grass hot drink, this is also my first time encountered this type of "natural" drink.

The rose petal and lemon grass slowly infused into the warm water and given a very mild but herby taste. 

It was not too bad, and I like the beautiful cup =)

 

For the food, it is quite struggling to choose because there are lots of interesting options.

I was tempted for big breakfast but somehow thought that big breakfast is too mainstream and is just combination of those food that I would able to get from supermarket.

Hence, I picked the sweet mash of mine - a very healthy brunch today.

It contains 2 pieces of rye toast with 2 poached egg topped with avocado and sweet potatoes mash, and sprinkled with coconut flakes, sesame and sun flower seed.

I personally not a poached egg fan, because of the mushy egg white texture and sometimes, sour after taste.

Same goes to this dish, the poached egg is not pleasing me, and I dont like the combination of avocado and sweet potatoes mash on the rye bread.

Overall this dish is rather dry and taste very "healthy".

Well, I am those type of people who looking for satisfying evil and high calories brunch if I am eating in a cafe, so I wouldnt order this dish for the second time.

However, somehow Yellow Brick Road gave me a hope that I should have give second chance for their other brunch menu.

 

At least the dessert was really great!

We shared the Apom Terbalik, apom is a Malaysian traditional type of malay pan cake, apom balik is a famous street food in Malaysia.

However, given the name of Apom Terbalik, seems like the chef is hinting something different from the traditional well known snack.

It is made of pan cake, topped with crushed nut, sweet corn, hawaiian coconut, gula melaka (Malacca sugar) and coconut candy ice cream.

I think I mentioned quite many time, I couldnt find any pan cake that could beat the pan cake I tried at Pan cake on the rocks in Sydney.

This Apom Terbalik, not exactly can beat my pan cake from the rock, but it definitely is my number 2 best pan cake so far that I had tasted.

It is soft (not as soft as pan cake from the rock), and fluffy, not too dense. The combination of all ingredient is very yummy, it's taste like apom balik for sure, but the coconut actually enhanced the fragance and soothing flavor of the pancake. 

I actually would like to try the other pancakes in Yellow Brick Road after this pancake attempt.

 

We didnt stay long at the cafe today because we were stressed by the crowd out there.

Lots of people are aiming our table, oh well, the cafe hunting culture is really blooming among youngsters in Malaysia.

Guess what, with this short 2 hrs, I got to pay RM6 for the parking! OMG, hopefully I got to carpool to here during my next visit.

Since I finished my date earlier today, I decided to chop off my hair....

There I go~ hehehe, I was pretty afraid my face will look big after cutting.

Recently, I wanna have short hair because I am bored with my frizzy long curvy end hair and the extreme hot weather lately really killing me.

But, I really afraid it wouldnt look nice because I have gained weight since my last short hair cut.

I guess I was over worried, or I might have lose some weight, I looked brighter and energertic with this short hair.

So I am happy with the look now, and may consider having another hair dying before I go Japan this September.

Time flies especially after Karen tender, I was counting down the days because I really had a very hard feeling about Karen's departure.

She is such an understanding boss, I really respect and admire her. I think she is my prefer boss after Sergey and Aaron.

Tonight, the whole technical team have a dinner session to appreciate the contribution of Karen throughout the 5 years in Macfood.

The dinner was hold at Bubba Gump, also was my first visit tonight, is just cant believe I am dining here because of such a sad reason.

 

Apparently, the restaurant name dint remind me of the movie - Forest Gump....after Chiam, our technical director mentioned that.

She even questioned why none of us knew about the movie, well I actually knew, but not familiar.

I do remember their famous quote: 

Oh well, good to know the link between this restaurant and the movie.

I also quite like how they use the plate to call waiter/waitress:

Run Forrest Run - we are good with everything, please let us enjoy our meal

We actually accidentally turned the red plate on, and a waitress come to us and politely ask what we need. 

That's how we discovered the function of the plates hehe.

 

I ordered the "....of cause we have scampi" which is a plate of linguine with tender shrimps and also a toast...

It taste not bad, the toast is crispy and there are many shrimps as well.

 

We also shared lots of platter - Bubba's far out dip and shrimp mayan salsa.

I actually quite enjoy meeting up with frens after work, because it really relieve lots of stress~

Tonight meeting up with Huey Yee at Garage 51, a cafe which is very popular at Bandar Sunway area mainly because it was constructed from a garage~

I have Chicken Pamigiana, which to me, really taste awful =S. Very dry, my own developed lab sample was much more better than this!

The hot chocolate was ok, I guess maybe they served good coffee and also famous with their crazy massive milkshake, but really bad in main dishes...

Well I am not heading back to this cafe again as I am not addicted to coffee or milkshake....so no point.

At least we had good dessert tonight at US cafe:

Another litting fancy dessert produced in US, though I was dissapointed with the fireball last time, but tonight's dessert was really good.

This dessert is call - Underground Grenade, basically is a bombe Alaska, it was blanketed with a layer of soft meringue believed covered with alcohol, within is a lemonade sorbet and a layer of cookies crisp underneath.

Too bad I was too enjoying it and forgot to capture the inner part.

It was a great night, we not just covered what happened recently at work, we also schedule a trip tonight!

WE ARE GOING TO JAPAN!!!

OMG, FINALLY MY DREAM COME TRUE!!

I cant tell how excited I am, but definitely need to book flight asap, as we planning to go in September...I guess is a good month =D

 

Last, also thanks Huey Yee's fancy present all the way from Hokaido!!

More of these kind of cafe hunting will be coming up as Karen decided to leave, we planned out more cafe hopping event.

Tonight we hop at SS15 area, with total of 4 of us: Karen, Kong, Derrick and I.

We chose to have dinner at Raku Pizza, a place that I wish to try out long time ago.

Derrick's karrage is quite tempting.....but i opt out karrage cz I think the waffle burger is more attractive~

There you go! Hmmm,nice appearance, and nice pork patty, but the waffle bun is too dry and chewy....

The combination is not bad, but definitely need improvement on the waffle.

Karen chose to eat their famous Japanese pizza, and she made a right choice.

It is great, nice appearance, and nice combination, and well taste! 

I think I will order pizza next time too, oh and wanna try their dry char sew ramen~

 

After dinner, of cause is dessert time!

Actually the main idea to come ss15 is because Karen want to try out the newly opened taiyaki ice cream.

Remember the taiyaki ice cream I fall in Da Men which I posted in last review? Karen and I are obsessed with Taiyaki ice cream~

Hence, here we are - Aboong, a korean famous chain, which just landed in Malaysia. Their first shop is at SS15.

This is my Aboong, the taiyaki is so good, the ice cream frozen yoghurt on top is so tasty and yummy!!

I really like the combination of frozen yoghurt on this taiyaki, but will I visit for the next time?

Hmmm, as what I told Karen, I might not because there are too many new dessert places or cafe blooming in Malaysia.

I tends to go to the new places rather than going back to those I had gone to....

Doesnt mean the places where I am not turning back is not great, it's just too many options out there...

I guess this is definitely a big challenge for Malaysia's cafe owner to strike out especially during this economic crisis period. 

As for foodie, I will continue hunt for the best, maybe someday, somewhere that I would return =D

Ok, another one turning 29, tonight is a pre-celebration for Jia Chyi. 

It was also been a while since last "girls only" chat group reunion (I seriously think this chat room name is very lame!)

And we heading tonight? Chyi favourite - Shepherdoo~~

I am ordering the all time favourite - M08 Chicken Parmigiana aia Mexicano simply because it is all time favourite lol

Nah, this dish is always ordered by Hui Bee, Bpeng and Chyi, and they recommended this dish.

I ordered once before, tonight is the second time I having it.

It is considered not too bad for the taste in Klang area, and portion is also huge enough. Price can be a little expensive, but overall this place is pricy.

We dint have long talk tonight maybe because all of us still need to work the next day except for Bean.

Her company is kind to women that they have the privillege to celebrate women day tomorrow. Thumbs up! (though her job is not really a good one either).

So basically we eat and have cakes, thanks to chyi.

 

Yi Mei bought special cakes again~ Not sure where she bought these cheese cake, but they are quite good.

Personally I am a big durian lover, but I do not like durian flavor dessert or other food that is made of durian because I simply think the fruit itself is nice enough.

Oh well, is for chyi, please dont throw me such cake on my birthday. Hehe.

It had been a long time since I last met Shin Faang, I think that was 6 years ago?!

She was my Uni Junior, but honestly what she did really impressed me.

Personally, I like her character, being a free spirit who do things she like without consider much of the effects.

I am not saying she is irresponsible though, please dont get me wrong. 

I actually wish to be like her, chasing her dream, and dare to dream big! 

 

We have a reunion at Antipodean cafe in Mid Valley mall today, of cause I took the train again, but I think I would rather drive next time because I find out I really cant stand waiting for the train ==

Although I really enjoyed relax and read a book on the train, but because of the not frequent schedule of the train, I was late for the brunch.

Huey yee and Shin Faang were very sweet, they helped me to order the big breakfast first and I got my meal instantly upon my arrival after long starving on the train and long wait at station for transit.

Antipodean's big breakfast consist of their home made hash brown, grilled mushroom, grilled ham, scrambled egg and toast. 

I guess because I was pretty late and they placed the order slightly earlier than they thought, my breakfast was actually cold. 

To me, Big breakfast is easy to be prepared but not easy to outstand, because it is somehow an ordinary meal. 

I have no comment for Antipodean breakfast because I did not eat it under the right condition, but I did order a hot chocolate right after my arrival.

Well, hot chocolate is pretty normal, sweet and ordinary. 

Not too soon, we sat for a whee while, and decided to make a move to another great spot to continue our conversation because people start aiming our table. 

We chose Madame Waffle at the top floor simply because it was quite empty =P

I always wanna try out their green tea waffle, but I was too full from my big breakfast, so I decided to just order a green tea ice drink.

We talked so much today, maybe also because I havent seen Shin Faang for so long, so there are many things to catch up.

Our conversation also crossed over so many different topics, from travel, to career, to beauty info, to sport, to movie, to the old days and memories....

I actually was not very close with Shin Faang, but I expected we can share a lot of topics because she is really an outgoing and bubbly lady. =)

Too bad we are all having something tonight, otherwise we may chat until dinner, and supper.

Cant really think a better topic, but who cares, is Flyday~~~ to fly tonight, we have awesome R&D outing night.

well, it is also for Pek Shan, because she is having some family issue and need to take a long leave, so we have a "farewell" dinner with her.

Kong also joined us tonight after leaving us 1 week. =D

We gone to Garage 51 (finally!) tonight for dinner, this famous cafe is actually very near to where I work, but I never visit this place at all.

So taking the advantage of outing tonight, I finally able to find out why is this cafe famous for.

 

But, to be honest, I think it is famous more likely because of the atmosphere, where is transformed from a garage.

Then, since it is located opposite Sunway Uni, at the same time very close by to other Universities, so its popularity spread virally among students.

Lots of people were talking about their infamous milk shakes family.

I was intended to try out at first, but after sawing other table's milk shakes, I decided to stay away from these high cal dessert drinks. LOL

Here's what I got tonight:

Australian beef sirloin spaghetti Aglio olio, there's not much of beef, taste quite ordinary.

With price RM19 is not considered cheap either, but reasonable if it is realy Australian beef. 

1 out of 4 pieces is tender....hmmmm.....

I guess they maybe still famous with their coffee or milkshakes, food is actually not so good to be proud with.

Ching yee have the mochatella, which is also what this cafe famous drink, made up of coffee cube, nutella and milk.

Well, I am not a coffee drinker, so i dont really fall for any special drink in this cafe.

Hence I was really looking forward for the dessert in another place.

 

We chose Underground Societe for dessert as Derrick kept mention their signature dessert is really yummy.

So we went the sister cafe of Garage and discovered they actually have just recovered from power shortage~ 

And, more importantly, the signature dessert - Underground Grenade is not available because they coundnt prepare the ice cream due to the power issues.

Hence, we ordered their other also claimed signature one - Underground fireball.

It is really impressive when it was served, all of us were so excited and standby our phone to capture or record a video.

This was what I captured, amazing right?

But honestly you wouldnt want to know what happened right after the lit, the dessert just turned into ash like below!

Honestly, I did not like this dessert. The rum was so strong, maybe alcoholic would like it but definitely not taste of mine.

The dessert was ended up left at the desk even though it did not left much after the fire burnt out. 

I think Kong and Derrick finished up the rest when all of us (the girls) refused to eat.

Luckily I had ice hazelnut chocolate which comfort me a bit (very pricy!!)

Though we did not encounter a very good experience of dining today, but we certainly have a great night.
