Yes, the secret lunch society finally made the first trip successful, thanks to Brandon =)
Okay, to cut it short, the society is joined by 4 members - Derrick, Wai Ee, Brandon and ME =D
Why "secret lunch"? Oh Brandon named it, simply because we always secretly go for lunch without inviting others lol, just 4 of us most of the time.
This group actually was created in Whatapps group first, then now I am going to name 4 of us this way =P
Yea, Brandon suggested the trip at first because he is heading US very soon, and he missed Prawn mee a lot.
Hence the trip was set 2 weeks ago, and is today!
Actually we had gathered since last night, we had sukiya at Damen, together with Pek Shan and Kong, finally got to introduce the introvert Kong to the extrovert Brandon.
Luckily it was a fun meet up, I thought they might end up not liking each other lol
Then, I was staying at Wai Ee's flat last night, because they claimed it is more troublesome to pick me up at Klang ==
Alright, both me and wai ee dint sleep last night, we talked about work, love, friendship, family, the past in overseas, the food and more.
We were talking until 4am! By then, Wai Ee decided not to sleep, so did I. She went for shower then followed by me, and we just waited until 6am for the guys to pick us up.
Brandon also stayed overnight at Derrick's, boys who said they would not sleep and play game whole night ended up slept like pigs.
Fortunately, we still depart sharp at 6am =)
I was a half dead fish on the way to Penang, I think I slept half of the journey.
We did have a short stop at a rest station at middle of no where (i really have no idea ==), and I had some random pricy nasi lemak.
Then, we continued the journey up north, I started remain awaken and we had so many crazy ktv sessions, we covered english, mandarin and even korean songs!
Once arrived at Penang, we checked in and rushed to the famous Teo Chew cendol. Pyramid actually opened a franchaise for this cendol too, but not as great as this store.
We dint wait for too long, and also very lucky to get a table. Well, mainly aslo because we were early =D
Besides the sweet cendol, we also had char kuey teow and oyster omelette
Honest recommendation: char kuey teow was not bad, but not really the best in Penang (I tasted somewhere better but please dont ask me where ==), but you may save your stomach for other better oyster omelette. I would just stand like others at the street and have the sweet cendol =)
After the "brunch", we walked around and we were so lucky that encountered heavy rain while we were not at shelter area.
We ran like a bunch of crazy people all the way to the mall, and even spent 20 bucks for a bloody umbrella ==
well, fortunately the rain dint last for too long, we walked further to hunt for food again, Brandon found a famous white curry mee listed online and I never heard about this before.
We passed by a small traditional cookies store and had some local eateries. The egg tart was yummy, taufu dessert and smooth and nice.
Derrick and Brandon said its soya milk was good too, but too bad I am neither a coffee nor soya milk drinker.
Soon, we also found the white curry mee~
It was the store behind us, spot the logo? I initially thought it was a instant noodle advertisement, it looks so ordinary and you will definitely miss it if you passed by,
Look! the noodles indeed white in color, I know penang is famous with white curry mee, but i never see a milky white curry mee before.
But, actually we still need to add curry paste into the soup, otherwise it would be tasteless. Difference is they also have various kinds of filling in the soup that we could pick.
I wouldnt say it was very great, but it was unique to be tried out.
After curry mee, guess what? We eat again!!
But now is dessert time~We went to the cafe that I always wanna try out, at China House!!
Just found out the street art I took photo with 3 years ago is located opposite China House.
We had some fun photo sessions before we feeding our sweet tooth.
After stepped into China House, we really impressed by the varieties of the cake selections here.
Surprisingly, there weren't many chilled cakes, most of the cake was densed and heavy =S
The cafe was crowded, just like other blooming cafes, we really hesitate to pick the cake especially we were not really hungry before we had too much ==
Ended up, Wai Ee picked scones, I picked passion fruit and coconut cream cake, while Brandon picked tiramisu.
Their cakes are large! With the so called not-cheap price, this size made the cost reasonable.
The tiramisu was not bad, but the passion fruit cake was slightly ordinary, will not recommend it.
Wai Ee think their scones was good, but I would say they were rather dry and maybe I had better scone in NZ =P
We spent few hours over here and really had a good time here, I guess I would come next time too =)
We stop for a while after dessert, but not too long later, we had dinner again lol
It was hard to choose where to eat because everywhere is surrounded with good food, last we chose gurney drive hawker stalls area because there had many varieties, and most importantly, we can park our car at Gurney mall right beside the eatery street.
Gutted I dint take every food photo, only got this: the penang style lobak and coconut drink. Beside this, we also ordered apom balik, grilled dry squid, assam laksa and rojak.
We really insane in this trip, if you thought our food journey end here and you were very wrong.
Dessert was shouting to us again, we picked Salon Du Chocolate instead of Franco, the waffle was really crispy and matched well with the chocolate.
Today is too sinful for our stomach.
If you think we decided to end today with the dessert, you were wrong again, because we bought beers (although it just 2 ==), and had some silly game tonight.
That's all for tonight, good night world~
