Technically, this is not my first leisure trip in Singapore. I went here for the little prince exhibition during September but did not stay overnight.

I had been picturing visit Singapore during Christmas because Orchard and Garden by the bay are famous with their xmas lighting and celebration. Wai Ee somehow also visit Singapore very frequently lately after she joined her new company, but mainly for work purpose. She also tempted to go Singapore for café hopping. Hence, both of us come into the common goal, make a short trip to our neighbor country in a weekend.

We took an early flight via Scoot airline, so that we have a full day of time to see around. We booked an air bnb room in Novena, basically travelling around with bus.

This is where we live for tonight, Eight Riversuites.

Our first stop is lunch or more like high tea at this café named Non Entrée at Farrer Park.

They are well known with their innovative dessert.

Look at this nasi lemak! Will you believe it is totally not on the savory side?

IMG_4957.JPG

The rice taste like a coconut pudding, in fact it is made of pandan mousse with gula melaka sauce. The hard-boiled egg is a mango yogurt (Very talented!). The fished shaped crisp taste like ikan bilis with addition of peanut butter, quite yummy while the sambal sauce was replaced with a strawberry coulis.

Overall it was very creative dessert, I am amazed with the appearance but not the taste. I still think it was not blended in taste or pairing with each other. Moreover, the price is a bit too high for this fancy dessert. (I guess because Singapore currency is too strong).

We also ordered another insta-worthy dessert – Matcha Avalanche

IMG_4962.JPG

There is a similar dessert in Ahoy café in SS15, Subang Malaysia, where the lava from the matcha cake flow into the bowl contains gelatos when you cut the matcha cake. However, I haven’t got the chance to visit Ahoy.

Personally, I prefer this matcha cake over the nasi lemak.

The café also serves some Christmas themed dessert during this festive season.

After the high-end kind of dessert experience, we move our way to Marina Bay Sands. This is my second visit at this touristy shopping mall, but still not impressed lol.

However, I do like the purple water lily outside the Art Science museum.

Few months ago, I made a mistake between the team lab exhibition in the National Museum and the Art Science Museum. Although I managed to visit the forest exhibition from TeamLab at National Musuem, but I am more interested in the TeamLab: Future world exhibition.

I sincerely thought that I will not miss out this time, but I think Singapore really want me to pay a visit again, the exhibition was closed temporarily for construction =.=

There’s another minimalist exhibition running in the museum, Wai Ee thought I want to see the minimalist exhibition while I thought she want to see it, and we bought the ticket and found out both of us were not amazed from the exhibition, then, come to realized we both got each other wrong. What’s a miscommunication! Funny =)

We continued walking along the helix bridge and walked further to Suntec City.

There’s a tokyu hand in the mall, somehow, I got jealous with Singaporean because they have this kind of chance to explore with Japanese chain stores.

I also bought my favorite bubble tea brand, Koi The, they just launched the gula melaka flavor. Koi the also had set up branches in Malaysia but I think there are no gula melaka flavor.

This drink is slightly too sweet for me, but I still like their chewy boba.

Wai Ee also bought the bakeries from Tiong Bahru Bakery at Raffles Place, she grabbed the last Bak Kwa Kouign Amann. However, both us dislike the Bak Kwa flavor cz the bak kwa taste was over-powering and the whole bakery is too sweet. I do like the crispy texture though.

Mickey mouse xmas decor here too!

Night falling soon, we moved our way to Orchard, surprisingly to find out there is a conservation area by the government at Emerald hill road. This neighborhood is the opposite of the busy and crowded orchard road, here is quiet and beautiful. The heritage houses are painted with different colors, is a good location for photo spot and a temporary getaway from shopping at Orchard.

Well, I am not really into shopping, given that Sg currency is 3 times of the ringgit. Dining in Singapore or I shall say travelling in Singapore is already a luxury.

Dinner time was at Nakajima Suisan, this was my second attempt. The grilled fish is still nice but I guess the first dining experience is always the most memorable, I felt that the grilled fish was not as good as my last dining experience.

But, in general the food ingredients here are still fresh and was grateful to able dine in as this place is always packed.

As mentioned earlier, the main reason I would like to visit Singapore during this time is because of the Christmas light. We didn’t include Garden by the bay because considering there will be quite crowded, and we need to purchase ticket to get in.

So, we just wandering around Orchard road. The lightings were not as nice as I thought and so many people! I think I probably will not come back for Christmas again, the experience is so much different compared with Taiwan. I guess the weather is also an important factor.

Singapore is just too hot to come outdoor to see the lights.

This is the night view from our Air BNB apartment. Good night Singapore.
