This is a throw back post regarding my first business trip with my current company and also marked my first time visit to our so called neighbour - Singapore.
I would say this is a rather accidentally, "lucky" trip for me as my manager (now "ex-manager) turned down her position and created an empty space for this business trip.
Along with my assistant manager, first time my packed up my luggage, represent my company to go for a ideation business trip at where so close yet so far~
I never been to Singapore, which was even shocked by the Sg custom, but i never deny I dont really intend to visit this small but well developed island.
Flight was super early in the morning, it was a headache since I need to carry samples over plus need to border my dad to send me to airport.
We got samples as excuse and got chance to travel with Singapore airline, no, Silk airline, the rather economical one.
Before on board, grab O' Brien sandwich, ouch, I missed having it in NZ.
The flight is not pack, you can see so many empty space, both me and Karen was sitting near the window but at different end.
40 mins flight was very short and smooth, we dropped our baggage at hotel lobby (still not able to check in as it was early) but then realized they dont really offer freezer storage for our sample.
So, we went to McDonald's (my customer) to store our samples, or McD's requested samples.
First time opened my eyes to HQ of McD's in Singapore, rather joyful working place from outside, I shall get to explore further tomorrow when working then.
After that, we went to Bulgis for lunch, Bulgis is a crowded place where full of hawker stalls, and cheap stuffs.
But to us who suffering from Malaysian ringgit crisis, these stuffs aint cheap.
We shared a traditional "gui zhap" (粿汁), this cost SGD 9, which equal to RM27....
Portion is big enough for both of us who dont really eat much, and taste is quite mild, suitable for ppl who dont have strong pallet.
Then, we took the MRT to the Marina Bay Sands just to spot the Mermaid Lion~
There are seats to be specially offered for disable, aging, pregnant needs.
I almost forgot what Marina Bay Sands is famous with, as I mentioned i dont really interested to visit this island.
This place is really designed for those materialistic, high end society, where I dont really see myself belongs to. =S
But I wouldnt deny this place is pretty.
This design is rather cool, you can throw peny from the top, and it will link to the bottom which connected to the canal at the shoppes.
I finally spotted the Mermaid lion, now I can consider myself been to Singapore, LOL.
Another cool shop I found here is the Super heroes cafe, but we dint have our dessert here because the queue was too long and both us dont really into these superheroes theme.
So we decide just take a short walk around the Marina Bay Sands.
Then, we decided to go China town, just because there is one of the tourist visit spot =.=
I bought my colleagues some souvenirs but now I am regretting cz it dont really worth it =S.
However, we gone to the Wa Cafe and have these green tea dessert which are amazing =)
Everyone around us must thought we were crazy, 2 young ladies having such big appetite to swallow all these!
I think I over estimating my dessert stomach either because we were struggled to finish all of them.
The hot plate is quite hot and the green tea ice cream melt super fast which made the toast really soggy.
As for the parfait, it is not too bad, well, I would say typical ice cream taste, nothing too special about it.
Then we decided to head back to hotel as Karen was carrying her labtop all the time because we dint check in this morning.
Our room is rather big, with 2 comfy beds and quite big shower room.
Then, we started moving from where we stay towards orchard road (yes we stay at a hotel at the end of orchard road).
I actually like the surrounding of orchard road, it reminds me of the city in NZ and Aussie, the old times....Awww...
Though we really ate a lot of dessert, we still want proper dinner, so we decided to have Japanese meal at food court in Takashimaya Shopping complex.
I got the tuna steak bento set, comes with 2 rather big grilled tuna steak, with rice, served with cold tofu, complimentary salad and miso soup.
The tuna steak is very tender and slightly oily but I accept it as it's full of omega 3 =)
This set cost around SGD15.90 which is actually considered cheap if working in Singapore. I guess I kinda understand why there are so many Malaysians prefer to work in Sg, because no matter life quality or the money power is worth for a better living. But before proceed to such decision, please consider hardly about the ridiculous rental and stressful society.
See I even spot the Laduree store =D too bad it is too expensive, let me aim them in my year end taiwan trip =P
