woohoo, finally!! At least, I have launched my new product, first time in Malaysia!

After working for 2 years (yes, officially 2 years after June), I actually have launched more than 10 products, but none of them were introduced to Malaysia market.

That's something shameful, I would like my family and friends taste my invention~

so finally, McD's Malaysia picked the right product to launch as LTO after 2 years being silent in the market due to the boycott and demand of powerful and signature new launch menu.

Here, you go, something to be "rio" with.

Yea, the recent introduced limited time only menu - rio burger, the beef patty was my project.

I still remember i stayed office overnight during its second production because its difficulties during processing.

Now, all gone and I am relief!

20160726_130748.jpg

Actually, I really afraid it would be very spicy because the beef patties itself is spicy and they still enhance the spiciness with the spicy coffee mayo sauce...

But thanks to the creaminess of the sauce, my burger is more palatable and succelent.

Proud for sure, let's rio~

Yeah, now move to the fifth series, I still continued have lots of food hunting during work, but this post also will cover a few hunting experience with friends after work.

20160602_152515.jpg

Kick start with the Japanese candy I bought, I think Japnese candies are also very nice, for sure will buy more during my Japan trip =D

20160603_163945.jpg

Taro pie! Nah, this was the lto tropical pie, Ken said is like bubur cha cha concept which I dint agree at all hehe, dont insult my bubur cha cha please.

But, this tropical pie not bad.

20160628_140806.jpg

Then, I have very special and unique exposure of Thai flavored ice cream.

On the left is green curry flavored ice cream, while on the right is tom yum flavored ice cream.

I got these in the newly opened Thai restaurant in Pyramid, they served variety of yummy thai food =D

The green curry ice cream is actually quite nice, but the tom yum one is really depends on people acceptance.

20160705_132231.jpg

Then we have these at Nam Hiong in Damen, this is the steamed egg dessert, something like creme brulee, but more firmer, less creamy version, or I shall say, more eggy =)

20160705_132700.jpg

I personally have the very colorful and yummy 雜果冰 fruits shaved ice, i love the variety =)

20160705_132825.jpg

While for meal, I have the Ipoh version curry hor fun, not bad too.

This was the dinner at The Daily Press cafe at Botanic, place was not bad, but food really dissapointing. Thanks to the “honest" recommending blog ==.

20160708_192508(0).jpg

This was bought by Wai Ee all the way from Korea.

Really very very yummy! Is honey butter flavored, a bit sweet and buttery and salty combination, very very irresistable~

20160712_121650.jpg

We also encountered this Malaysia version of Akiba at Damen shopping centre, is like a Japanese cuisine zone here, we had a quite tasty tonkatsu over here.

20160715_155340.jpg

Last, finished with dinner tonight I had with Karen, Pek Shan and Derrick.

I was very grateful how 4 of us who used to work in the same working place (except me and Derrick) can hang out after everyone continued with their own path.

We have dinner at the new Japanese ramen chain - Menya Miyabi  麺や雅 , this is the real chain from Hokaido =D

20160715_192136.jpg

What really attracting me was the chef is really Japanese, which made me have some hope.

Due to the awful experience in Ippudo, I really afraid of trying out foreign chain especially Japanese in Malaysia, i just dont want have more dissapointment because of the poor management and skill of local cuisine and cook.

Luckily everything was good, too bad I had a very very full lunch and had to share the ramen with Derrick. Otherwise, I would be more sastified with the ramen. Nvm, I can always come again =)

After dinner, of cause we did not miss out dessert, went to Cafe bene for bingsu, celebrating advanced birthday for Derrick =)

IMG-20160715-WA0002.jpg

We chat lots tonight, I am really grateful that Pek Shan got her dream job, she can fly for business trip frequently which is what she always dream for.

Karen is less busy, have more work life balanced life, and she seems enjoying it.

While Derrick and I, kept going, I will keep looking for other new job, Gambateh~

Is April FOOD.....I have to mention 3 times because it is very important lol

I had been posting my food hunting during work, but I actually also hunt a lot during personal time...no matter with frens or with family.

Of cause I had posted lots of my gathering event, however here are some of the left out food that I had and would like to share out.

20151019_062640.jpg

first, this cute bun is from Olive bakery. With chocolate filling, quite nice.

20151101_050451.jpg

20151101_050632.jpg

Then, this Hokaido cake is bought from RT pastry bakery. To be honest, I think it is quite expensive and not really with any fancy taste that need to boast about.

6 cakes in 1 box cost almost RM12....super expensive.

This series of photo was taken in Blackstone cafe, opened by my high school mate who very closed with Bean.

20151103_190937.jpg

I quite enjoy the ambient and atmosphere inside, but I wouldnt go for the second time.

20151103_190950.jpg

Their cake dint look fancy either though the boss actually learnt baking in Taiwan.

20151103_191023.jpg

20151103_191130.jpg

20151103_192343.jpg

The food is just so so, and not many variety, that's the reason I wouldnt go for the second time.

20151110_134113.jpg

Then, this Teochew dessert really captured my eyes!

I had this with my family in a local restaurant, is my first time had this traditional dessert but it is really yummy!

I love the stickiness and how the sweet glutineous rice match with the smooth yummy taro =D

Bean really love vegetarian, so sometimes I was "forced" to have this kind of meal with her.

You are right, I really dislike vegetarian meal, i dont like fake food (no offense to the vegetarian ya), is just totally personal feeling.

But I dont mind going for vegetarian, because I will order real vege~ lol

20151209_195221.jpg

What's a "vegetarian" ABC looks like? Is just normal ABC~

20151209_195227.jpg

And i also have this mango springroll which was quite pricy and not really good =S

20151218_200728.jpg

Another healthy organic vegetarian meal.....vegan bah kut teh....hmmmm

This was another dining with bean at her cafe, nah.....just because the cafe named Bean Thief, lol

20160122_202044.jpg

20160122_202122.jpg

20160122_202129.jpg

I dint capture my meal, not a very fancy or outstanding one I guess.

Here it come! My first escargot!

Mum was totally freak out, but I enjoyed it hehehe. But I think it was overcooked, guess hard to cook them.

I so wish I could try the greater escargot in France.

20160222_205835.jpg

I had this croissant sandwich at comic coffee at my neighbourhood.

Surprisingly quite good, the croissant was crispy~

20160224_195952.jpg

Then, this was the meal I encountered tonight at 1986 cafe.

20160401_193030.jpg

20160401_193555.jpg

The meal is actually not very good, is just normal meal. Moreover, the cafe is really noisy after 9pm =S

Oh well, that's all for now~

Here's come the food hunting during work - vol 3.

Being a foodie is a wonderful thing, especially being a foodie who work in the food industry.

Well, ignore those high pressure encountered during work, and those super annoying last minute request (so called ADHOC) or the irritating early morning or night that have to stay in the freezing cold line.

Life's indeed filled up with up and down moments, hence food always is my best company - also a love and hate related imitate in Vivian's life.

Something good about working in Malaysia: I do not have to border bringing lunch box, neither need to worry about starving nor having little options for lunch, food's everywhere.

Something bad about working in Malaysia: take care of your wallet, you may spend more than you thought for lunch ==

20160216_123200.jpg

Fried asam laksa - one of the favourite shop we like to visit at SS14, concept is good, but i still prefer my soupy authentic asam laksa.

20160301_123903.jpg

Don't get me wrong, the drink is not named "Bev" or "Hasan", it was called " Korea", yea, the country Korea.

Hasan should be the one who took my order, Bev? not so sure.

I have this Korea drink at Murni, a chained Mamak restaurant in Malaysia which gained quite good popularity.

Their drink is always unique, this Korea drink actually contained oats on top =D

Then back to the day we worked in store, before the ideation session, we gone to nearby cafe for lunch

We picked "Pickle and Fig" simply because it is close enough, have their lunch set which come with free drinks.

20160314_130000.jpg

Forgot what kind of yellow tea I had, but quite nice, and I chose to have thier smoked duck panini.

A very healthy cafe meal.

20160314_130448.jpg

Here was what I doing at the store, busy preparing all sorts of ideation menu to please the menu team.

IMG-20160328-WA0000.jpg

IMG-20160328-WA0001.jpg

Well not just me, thanks for the crew's effort too.

Then, encountered something nice which I always wanna try out at the new mall - Da Men.

I missed this in Taiwan, but for sure wouldnt want to miss this in Malaysia.

20160323_131309.jpg

Just like the store name: Tanoshii! so happy about this Taiyaki ice cream, but i was too excited that I accidentally dropped the top green tea soft serve on the floor.....TT

Luckily the store staff was very kind and generous, he made me a new one....i was so guilty when looking at the green colored "poops" on the clean shining white floor.

20160323_131314.jpg

Taste of it? Well it's just green tea soft serve with taiyaki......==, but I was happy to meet such a generous staff who really made my day.

20160324_130141.jpg

Then, this massive shrimp on my chawanmushi is found during my lunch with Karen at a Thai owned Japanese cuisine at SS18.

20160329_125550.jpg

20160329_125950.jpg

Last, but not least. We had lots of whole chicken left over from Derrick's project.

Since we worked in a kitchen, why not cooking our own meal for lunch?

Roasted chicken definitely wouldnt be wrong~

My colleagues and I were having this topic of what type of food they dont really eat during lunch yesterday, and I discovered my new colleague (the new fresh grad boy) disliked banana and papaya because of their mushy texture.

Then, another colleague dislike cucumber, capsicum, green pea, papaya etc (apparently she still have more food which she never eat)

The most weird hate relationship with food is my new boss, she doesnt eat durian, papaya, banana, cherries, grapes and strawberry!! (and I think there are more ==).

I found this amusing, because I to me all the food they dislike are so good, and I never expect ppl hate them

This inspired me to write this post, to discover what type of food I really love and hate, and I also found out I actually eat almost everything!

I actually wanna categorized into 2 groups: 1. Food I don't eat (even you point a gun on my head) 2. Food I dislike (well, I still eat them if no choice)

Group 1:

i) Coffee: yes, I am not a coffee drinker which is very unusual for a foodie, but who conclude foodie have to be coffee lover? Reason not drinking coffee, simply because I am allergic to coffee.

ii) Potato (chunky): ok I still eat fries, chips and mashed potato, I just dont eat the chunky potato which is usually cooked with curry, or the whole baked potato. Reason: too much carbs~

iii) Rabbit, kangaroo meat or other exotic meat: I am not eating rabbit because I am a rabbit (chinese zodiac), and kangaroo are so cute (so cruel to eat them, see my post playing with Kangaroo here), then for other exotic meat such as snake meat, insects....they are just too much for me to consider as food.

Group 2:

i) Soft drink: high sugar, and I want to diet =)

ii) Fast food: I've enough for work!

iii) Soy milk: dont ask me why, I just simply dont like it

iv) Vegetarian meal: Ok, I have to explain here, what I mean for vegetarian meal are those food made by soy or bean curd to pretend as "meat" which is very nasty to me. This category have very high potential to level up into group 1.

So above are what I think of for food that I dislike, let's see the 10 most polarizing foods I found on website:

1. Cilantro: well I dont mind this food to be used as an ingredient, but yes I dont eat it either

2. Celery: I actually like celery!

3. Licorice: No, I also said no to it.

4. Green pepper: I love pepper no matter what color!

5. Marzipan: hmmm, I wouldnt think of eating it

6. Mayonnaise: I am fine with it.

7. Blue cheese: I dont like its smell, and would be reluctant to consume it, but I tried eating baked blue cheese as topping on pizza, it was goood!

8. Vegemite/marmite: never eat them! I dont understand why they are so popular in Aussie/NZ

9. Coconut: of cause love coconut! I dont think any south east asian would hate it

10. Liver: I would skip it =)

Since I have categorized food I dislike, I wanna highlight the food that I would eat no matter how many times I being served with:

1. Egg: yes I wouldnt say no to egg, the love relationship among me and egg is irreplacable! (I think except raw egg, and those exotic eggs such as the disgusting pelut, I eat almost every type of egg).

2. Durian: omg, I cannot stop when it comes to durian, that's why I couldnt believe there are ppl (I mean Malaysian) dislike this king of the fruit world (my weird new boss and my brother). However, I only love the "real" durian, as in I dont like durian puff, dodol, or other dessert using durian.

3. Cherries: same as durian, I never say no to cherries. I remember I was having stomach ache at a time and I was so pissed because my parents was tempting to finish all the cherries. This is how much I into cherries. Ohh, I really miss the day having endless cherries during summer in NZ.

4. Sushi: even I have them yesterday, I still eat them today. It is one of the food I really love too.

5. Green tea dessert: yes another dessert which I totally in love with, but I discovered that there are ppl dislike them (and coincidentally they are a group of fren of mine).

6. Macaron: regardless how ppl find them sweet, I still love macaron =)

To conclude, I do think I actually almost eat everything!

A confession from a foodie who never learnt on maintaining the ideal body shape, just because food meant too much for her. Hehe.

IMG_20140726_004341

Taiwanese dessert from Snow Flakes...nice to view, but taste was just so so...

IMG_20140725_194739

Vietnamese meal, finally found one at the closest place - O'Viet, Sunway Pyramid.

I have craved for Vietnamese meal for such a long time, happily found one though the place is still incomparable with my favourite one which is far at the south of earth.

2014-04-10 06.32.22

Komugi, my favourite bakery in Malaysia so far, and all my colleague knew how I obsessed with their pricy masterpieces.

The half baked cheese cake hunted me every single time!! I am still on my way to try out every types of their bakeries. =)

20140520_125349

A rice burger with salmon from Sushi King. Well, taste was alright as expected.

img1409458935938

Another meal from Sushi King - Grand Tempura and Yaki Sakana set meal.

Dad still dont understand why I love "aweful" stuff like grilled mackerel, because he think it is way too fishy.

My dear papa, dont you know the fishy taste is the best?! lol. OK, treat me as the weirdest kid ever =)

P/S: Sushi king is only great when it comes to price =P

IMG_20140623_125735

sushi from Pasta Zanmai, taste was just normal which I dont understand why people are over-whelming about this pricy and normal-sushi place.

But I love the varieties they offered as a cuisine.

IMG_20140824_125018

I remember this Saturday escape, to run for a proper lunch from work during weekend.

Moreover, I am happily to order pricy meal especially when my boss would love to pay the bill.

Why not? But coffee chemistry food actually was just ok, and very pricy when come to drink.

RM15 for a green tea frappe, seriously?

IMG_20140802_111625

Longan, one of my favourite fruit. I actually have just finished 3kg of them with my dad during the past weekend!

IMG_20140630_195244

Similar as Japanese meal, Thai food are ways too expensive in Malaysia, especially clueless when Malaysia is just right bottom of Thailand!

IMG_20140531_204952

Dad love japanese meal nowadays, we have constantly having Japanese meal every weekend since this year. =)

20140511_123211

DIm sum, I dont mind once in a while.

20140703_194149

No one can get rid of this except some group of people...! My long time favourite - bak kut teh!!!

How can you claim yrself a Klangnites if you not eating this!

20140720_145521

Cafes are opened everywhere now, the coffee culcure have endured into Malaysia's every corner.

Sorry that I am not a coffee addict, but I dont mind having high tea with my frens =)

20140807_103244

I hope I get more of these! A japanese gift brought from our Japanese supplier, awesome!!

IMAG1073

Everyone can get healthy, you just need some vege and a cool Japanese sesame sauce!

IMG_20140817_193541

Japanese curry, I dont mind eating once in a wee while...another confession of an eater.

yeah! is Saturday again!! yes, so over for working week days, LOL.

So what's on today?? -----------> dim sum for lunch and pizza night! Wooah~

Yes, Nicole is over my place today after dim sum at Tasti early this morning. Well, the dim sum there were alright, hmmm, I guess is we should just have to treasure what we have, as I know some of my frens cant even find dim sum at places where they about.

So I have no complaints =D

Before the pizza dinner, we went to plaza for a walk, and bought this frozen yoghurt:

IMAG0269

cost me 4 dollar something, indeed these frozen yoghurt thing is expensive, no matter at Malaysia or NZ. Taste was alright, is just weird when Taro should be sweet, but because it is a yoghurt, it become sour?? Sound making sense??

Hmmm, anyway, good to try out. I also bought 2 medium size ramekins, haha, is just Stevens was having sale, bought 1 for 4 dollars. Then from now on, I can use them to make mousse, pudding, even creme brulee etc...=P

Nicole was so happy I bought them, because she was thinking to make souffle for our dessert tonight.

SO there we go, let's make pizza!!!

Ok, here is the recipe for the base: http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/12040/thin+crispy+pizza+bases

for the topping, is all DIY. Haha, basically Nicole and I just bought some ham, sundried tomatoes, feta cheese, mozarella cheese, salad, BBQ sauce etc.....

Our outcome:

before:

IMG_4697

and after:

IMG_4699

is very creative that Nicole think of crashing an egg on top! Yes, the green was also topped as soon as the pizza out from the oven!

Actually I can assume that we made like 4 toppings, like 4 in one. Haha, actually we made 2 pizzas, but I just took the photo of second pizza. They are HUGE!!

However, they are just simple toppings, like hawaiian, BBQ, and kinda simply mix. haha, I also created the cheesy crust, like those pizza from PizzaHut got cheese in the crust. Hehe, but they were not very nice, cause they all kinda like turned into a cheesy bread....Hmmm, no wonder Pizza hut is so popular even though making pizza is actually very easy. Lol, I am pretending like a Pro now. =P

Anyways, egg and pizza is definitely a good match!

IMG_4701

Then, dessert time! Souffle actually is not hard to make, see recipe:http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/12527/chocolate+souffle

IMG_4703

It's looked awesome when it puffed! But u have to consume it asap, or else it will become like this:

IMG_4711

yes, I stored it in the fridge for tomorrow breakfast, cause I really hate hot dessert, and include souffle....Although we made it for the first time, ate it for the first time, still, we dislike it regardless of it's beautiful appearance, I am sorry.....=(

Indeed, I think there are many people still like it, so is just the preference matter...=P

vivian 發表在 痞客邦 留言(0) 人氣()

So, I finally learnt to make crème brulee today, thanks to Nicole. We were saying this ages ago, and we made it today. =D

She has this equipment which is useful enough and we made 4 crème brulee. We started baking at 2-ish and chit-chat mean while the crème brulee was baked in the oven. Nicole showed me her photos taken during her Europe trip via her dad’s ipad. This is also the first time I ‘touched’ ipad, well, I couldn’t deny that it is really stylish and useful. Nicole had a great trip in UK, France and Holland. Another friend of mine gone to Eiffel tower again, I am so jealous… ><….

Too bad Laduree was closed that time due to Mayday when Nicole was there in France, well she snapshoot the shop looks coincidently (she didn’t know this famous macaroon shop), and it is a fancy shop!! One of my wish, to visit this famous macaroon shop!

IMAG0199

While waiting for the crème brulee set in the fridge, we headed to Rendezvous restaurant at Summer Hill for our dinner. The restaurant was recommended by Nicole, which has a comfortable environment, but quite pricy meal.

521461_10150840333783947_2053063424_n

We just ordered one entrée, the scallop not too pleasant for me.

559986_10150840329933947_1618454018_n

However, my main tasted great!: TWICE COOKED BELLY OF PORK (Served on a bubble and squeak mash, steamed broccolini, roast red onion, baby spinach and pine nut salad, topped with a sundried tomato and olive chutney, apple reduction and crackling)

We skip dessert as we already have some in my fridge, tada, there u go!

Nicole is playing with the butane torch, and here come the caramelizing effect~

IMG_4572IMG_4580IMG_4583

finally they are done! <3

Actually is a failure, as the crème brulee didn’t set nicely, it very liquid-ish…

IMG_4585

However, they still tasted good.

I should cook my dinner at home, but was so craving for korean stew lately....

and kimchi always cure my bad "output" system the best....

Palmy doesnt have great korean stew like in dunedin, but luckily i still able to get this cheap one

IMAG0136IMAG0137

is actually considered a lot for just by myself, and is huge portion for my dinner as well as for my diet (cz i intended to consume small dinner these days)

and the meal was not very fancy or wow..but is just NZ10, is good for economic and not-too-bad meal...

i felt grateful already as there were not many good korean restaurants in this small town....

I saw a special food last week at david's trading, thought it was nougat, then was told by the retailer that it is an Italian product which used to replace chocolate.

IMG_4256

Hmmm, interesting, and as it was not too expensive, I bought one, with pistachio flavor.

IMG_4257IMG_4258

It was quite sticky, and a bit like nougat tho....taste was alright, but dont think it can replace chocolate tho....haha XD

I dint started my diet this past few days, and I ate too much over the weekend, so next week, next week.....(gosh viv, make sure u do)

IMG_4189

SO I made mango lassi yesterday, finally! yea, cz I got a free yogurt sample from Ping (some ppl's leftover after the experiment), no worries, they are hygiene, and fresh and must be consumed immediately! The good thing is they are the most "raw" one, as no sugar, fat was added, good! And to finish whole container of yogurt in one goal, here's come my mango lassi! Just simply blend the canned mango (and they are no fresh one here), with the yogurt and I personally added milk to make it smoothier~

IMG_4190

Guess what, this is the mcflurry! NZ version, so small, and they served in paper box! I so afraid they will all melt and leak.....NZ Mcd just lauched this mcflurry last yr (believe or nt), and they come with 4 flavors, but without the favourite oreo flavor in Malaysia!! I tried the double chocolate fudge, it was alright, I still missed the oreo mcflurry back home....

IMG_4191

and chicken deluxe! They actually put bacon and cheese inside, I think they gave me extra....lucky??

IMG_4192

and sushi for dinner tonight! with vege wrap (also from the sushi stall) =D

vivian 發表在 痞客邦 留言(0) 人氣()

Wow, what a good day, is leap year!

Just feel like posting something on this special day, if anyone birthday today, happy birthday!

IMAG0058

and got some "leap year gift" from rob hunter, thought is really his birthday today, gosh, got fooled by ping....

anyways, these free stuffs seriously not good stuffs for diet...==

I had a curry chicken night with Shirley, I cooked my proudly presented chicken curry, and just Yum! lol

and shirley brought me good stuffs as well!

IMG_4187

curry puff!! and this one is more iconic, and more representative, I felt embrassed to bring the curry puffs before to Sergey....TT

vivian 發表在 痞客邦 留言(0) 人氣()

I have so much junk food over the weekend, which I purposely did

I plan to diet, finally! The target is to lose at least 13kg! I gained nearly 20kilos after I come NZ, which was really worst. I missed the skinny me in the past. I was not slimy girl in the past, was already considered chubby, so now even worst...

So I have my "last" fatty and junky meal, hope I will not struggle over winter, I had KFC tonight, with their new drink, the sparklers (virgin Mojito flavour).

Please be persistent this time Vivian!

IMAG0047

the virgin mojito, dont think they really put alcohol into it.

IMAG0048

Yes, I really love my office, cz I always got the chance to taste all the good food made by my supervisors. Besides, other people also tend to bring food or snack over to our office!
