First time gone to the Regent theater at Broadway, but not watching an orchestra or ballet, i gone today totally just for Nicole.

She was taking part in a cultural performance show tonight, named 'World on Stage'

The show was mainly dances and songs, never know it until Nicole invited me.

I also had long time dint go for this type of show since the international night in Otago in 2010....really miss that...

Tonight's show were sponsored by local communities, so was sort of a big public show rather than student performances like what I had seen in Uni.

Therefore I am quite interested on the shows....

Nicole's bf picked me up and basically I just watched the show with him and his friend as Nicole was always at backstage preparing for her performance

The show started up with Te Kura Kaupapa Maori O Manawatu, I guess is a Manawatu Maori society opening.

Thought is adult Maori performance, but all of them are kids.. well is kinda 'powerless' haka performance, but perhaps we couldnt expect much with Manawatu.

Then, it followed by the Scottish Pipe, Lion dance, and various dances and songs...

I am not going discuss all the performance here, cz there are like 20 smthing....well most of them are OK performance,

but I guess not many people will want to pay NZD18 for that, is not expensive, but somehow is not cheap either.

Of cz, if get to watch so many performances with the show,NZD18 could be worthy, however, the show itself was poorly organized, even the performers knew that. That was a delay during the second half, and some of the performances on the list were actually missing.

The theater itself is a very good stage, but too bad the organizers didnt use the stage setup wisely...based on what I heard from Nicole, the back stage was a mess, the procedures were not planned accordingly and her dance group nearly missed the show

Luckily Nicole's dance was a good performance, she danced elegantly and beautifully~

too bad the moves were very fast, was so hard to capture a good photo....but her movements were in my head now ^^

The most amazing performance was the Korean Arirang, no wonder my parents kept on praising it when they went to North Korea for the show in 2005.

For the Japanese performance, they were well prepared and energertic too!

But for the remains, hmmmm.,,,well the Bengali dances were good, others were just soso...some were even not well prepared.

Actually the Regent theater is very beautiful, however the show is not well promoted, so actually not many people come for the show. I guess the poor organization should be blamed, hopefully these shows still remain in future.

Is always good to have this type of show for the western..
