We gonna go to the city again today, just realized one stuff, parking is cheaper in weekend!

so we gonna use this Sunday benefits to explore the city, so exciting, especially I am going to South Melbourne market today =D

First, let's have some Aussie breakfast~

Somehow i really miss Cookies time, but the kiwi brand is not found in the kangaroo land (as far as i come I didnt see any), but I still happy to find Arnott's chocolate chips cookies!

memory42.jpg

Indeed premier if compared with the regular Arnott's cookies, plenty than chipsmoore (a malaysian brand which claims they have more choco chips) LOL.

Of course I also didn't miss out the oceania pie! Got these so often back in NZ time, but Malaysia selling them at a super expensive price.

memory43.jpg

Then, we depart to the south market, the parking is located at roof top, right above the market.

memory45.jpg

we reached around 10am, but the parking is almost full, we were lucky to find one very soon.

memory61.jpg

through the stairs, we reached south market; apparently most tourists went to Queen Victoria market, as it is bigger and also more accessible from the city.

However, friends who went Melbourne before advised me to visit South market instead as it is more locally visited and also not that commercial, which i fully agreed.

memory60.jpg

The market mainly sell fresh produce, vegetables and fruits here are very fresh and there are also more varieties than the supermarket.

memory31.jpg

memory32.jpg

memory33.jpg

The asparagus is really long and thick, and also cheaper with such portion.

memory34.jpg

Finally got to see the real face of the blood orange, saw it on some menu but never know they looks like this.

memory51.jpg

Is this a hybrid of pumpkin and tomatoes?

memory52.jpg

One of the thing i missed is the convenience of getting nice flowers in NZ/Aussie, although i didnt buy flower for decor last time when staying in NZ, but come to think of it, it is really cheap and convy to have them especially I had learnt flower arrangement, it is so convenient to practice if i still in NZ.

Not sure what is this purple ball shaped flower, but they are beautiful isn't it?

memory53.jpg

So as this huge fruits plant alike flower, wonder if really have people buy it....

memory56.jpg

I also found these beautiful tiles selling in the market, so nice to have them as a present right? Haha, i bought some for my closed friends as souvenirs.

They could be used for decor, but they are meant for mug coaster~

memory54.jpg

We also found these!!

memory57.jpg

I miss quiche so mucccchhhhh! so good to find them, immediately, without single thought, I bought one, save our breakfast for the coming days~

memory58.jpg

There's also fresh bakeries, i made a good choice to buy the macaron here, so yummy~ Is better than Laduree in Malaysia!

memory35.jpg

Also a store selling fresh nuts~ I wonder why NZ don't have such permanent daily fresh market? Or i just didn't notice there's one.

memory59.jpg

Then we continued move around, the market actually quite big~

memory49.jpg

We didn't cover every single corner as there is a limit of 2 hours parking at the roof top, so we just roughly go through the zone we want.

Imagine if we went to Queen's victoria market, there is much more bigger than South market, we may need half day to spend if we really go there.

memory36.jpg

That's very nice of their practice! we shall save our planet!

Then, there is also a small food court here, but too bad we were rushing, otherwise we would eat here!

memory27.jpgmemory50.jpg

memory28.jpg

memory29.jpg

memory30.jpg

memory46.jpg

Then, there is also fresh meat and seafood sold at the market

memory26.jpg

memory47.jpg

memory48.jpg

The oysters looks great and there are many people eating it raw, honestly I still can't take oyster raw even though i am a fan of sashimi.

It just sounds gross to me, but can't deny there are many Aussie enjoying them.

memory25.jpg

There is even an eye brow bar in the market! Interesting~

memory55.jpg

We actually got a borek from the food hall in the market, it is a common turkish breakfast which i encountered for the first time.

Good to learn new food term and new food of course =)

memory62.jpg

It is like kebab, but with crispy flaky pastry, i guess they panfried it after wrapping the filling in it.

Very yummy, will love to try again if got chance~

We actually had the borek at the shrine of remembrance, so happy to find out parking here on Sunday is FREEEEE!

memory97.jpg

Shrine of remembrance is just behind me, this is also my first time being here

memory98.jpg

This place is built to honour the men and women who served in the World War I.

memory99.jpg

Just like the signature flower in ANZAC day, poppy flowers are planted here.

memory100.jpg

memory101.jpg

There is a very huge and informative museum at the base of the memorial, contains large resources of the history back days.

We spent almost half an hour in the museum as we not really history fans, but i think the museum do preserve lots of good evidence of the past.

memory3.jpg

memory6.jpg

The route of the museum is connected to visitor centre then the garden courtyard, then will access to the park outside.

But we didn't finish the actual building on the top.

memory7.jpg

So beautiful architecture!!

memory8.jpg

memory102.jpg

Dad decided not to join us to access the building, as we planned to go up to the balcony to see the city view.

memory103.jpg

memory4.jpg

memory104.jpg

memory106.jpg

memory107.jpg

I didnt know there is a huge poppy flower hang there

memory108.jpg

memory109.jpg

Stunning, isn't it?

memory37.jpg

After the brilliant view, we wander around here and make our move to the next stop~

memory10.jpg

We went to city for lunch!

memory64.jpg

Lunch at this Vicolino cafe at one of the laneway, this is also my first time to try out the restaurant along those Melbourne hidden laneway.

Food was not bad =)

memory65.jpg

Then we continue walked from laneway linked to another laneway~

memory68.jpg

Here's my Koko Black!! OMG, taste so great! I knew this shop for a long time, but i have never tried it because somehow i felt it was way too pricy.

Oh well, but an online fren told me is worth of trying, so here I go~ I waited sometime for this, and yes, is worthy ;)

memory70.jpg

memory72.jpg

I still remember i bought macaron on my last trip with this little shop, but i didnt try this time because I ald fulfilled my macaron quota this morning =P

memory73.jpg

Melbourne laneway is always memorable to me, Christmas is approaching, let's wrap the city!

memory74.jpg

Is summer time! We spot cherries too! OMG, the coutry side cherries always the best!

memory75.jpg

memory76.jpg

While my mum was busy shopping in the pharmacies, I decided to bring my brother to walk around the city =)

memory12.jpg

Cool right? I think I am like one of those hippie on the street hahaha.

memory13.jpg

There are so many cool hidden spots in Melbourne~

memory14.jpg

memory93.jpg

Brother found good spot for photoshooting again!
